> Edit: Clue... there is only one answer. You're being unfair. I'm not Scumbria. I'm not Bilow. I'm not Paul Engel. I don't jump into other peoples' threads with the sole intent of pissing people off and causing trouble to make myself feel better at the expense of others. I'm trying to have an intelligent conversation here, and you're responding, frankly, with mere rhetoric.

Okay, now, let's have a real conversation here:

You seem to be asserting that Intel might as well commit suicide if they decide to use a type of memory other than Direct Rambus DRAM. Why do you assert this?

PS: (not that I'm insisting that Scumbria, Bilow, and Paul Engel are like described above, those are merely rumours that I heard)

Richard, ok, I'll byte.
The answer you are fishing for is that only Rambus has the memory bandwidth that makes the P4 a viable processor.

Now the problem with this assertion is that NVidia is working on a chipset for the XBox that has a memory bandwidth of 6.4 GB/sec. and it uses DDR. Now true, it uses a 128 bit bus, but the cost argument is shot in the head because you cannot argue that XBox is a high cost application. Or maybe you will try...
