"Copper Mountain reported upside in the September quarter with revenues and EPS above
published expectations. We are significantly lowering estimates for revenues for the
December quarter and the 2001 calendar year due to three emerging trends in Copper
Mountain's largely CLEC customer base. The dramatic reduction forecast is a result of
limited and deferred capital spending, operational barriers that are reducing CLEC DSL
deployment plans, and increasing difficulty in CLEC procurement of ILEC copper loops.
As management has elected to maintain the company's spending in R&D and S&M, we
are lowering EPS for the calendar 2000 fourth quarter and estimating flat sequential
quarterly EPS estimates throughout 2001. Despite the dramatic reduction in our forecast
for 2001, we are reiterating our Buy recommendation on the stock."
