every aspects of the markets is now subject to enormous distortions due to the incredible leverage in the system and derivative related games.

yesterday's confluence of events in the stock/currency/gold markets showed that intervention in those supposedly 'free' markets is in fact the order of the day...note, if the NAZ were to tank below 3k, all those brokers who were throwing money at the spoos and selected stocks yesterday would be looking at disturbing mark-to-market values of their inventory...furthermore, the puts that were sold while the decline was going on had to be brought as close to the 'max pain' point as was possible.

and it worked again. one day it won't work anymore...see Taiwan.
