Give the general public and average Rambus investor and most analysts difficulty in understanding the DDR/RDRAM problems, I was pleased that Tate explained it the way he did.
Or should I say that I was pleased with the way he dismissed it!

Gene he wasn't knocking DDR with romours, he was reporting the problems to counter the deceitful way in which DDR supporters have lied about the introduction of DDR systems.

If u disagree, please find me a working DDR system. By working, I mean something I can use and run a variety of applications on. Even a prototype will do. I don't think you will be able to do that right now.

Gene,
I thought the report was great and truthful on the hypocrisy and the many problems that DDR has had. He was right on the money.

Hi Gene Parrott; Rambus royalties on RDRAM are a done deal, but RDRAM is dead. DDR royalties, on the other hand, are not a done deal, so it is very normal that Rambus is still disparaging DDR.

As far as Craig saying that the P4 will be a fast ramp, but Rambus was a mistake, the implication is pretty clear. The vast majority of the 2001 boards will ship with SDRAM, not RDRAM. This should be a familiar situation for Rambus, the same thing happened with the i820. But this time Intel won't need a MTH chip.

VIA is supposed to have the first chipset, and I'd bet they've been putting more engineering effort on that than on any other project. The first company that puts the P4 on SDRAM or DDR will pick up a lot of business, and Intel couldn't be happier to make the CPUs for those chipsets.
