E!:

Maybe I'm just an incurable optimist but I still believe, over any time horizon but the short and, perhaps, medium term, inflows will continue.

IMHO Boomers will continue to pump money into equities whether through mutual funds or directly and over the course of the next fifteen years or so, trillions of dollars will be transferred to them from their far more cautious parents. Europeans are just discovering the stock markets. Once of these fine days, Japan will right itself. I know you confined your comment to the U.S. markets but I think those lines will begin to blur as markets globalize.

Of course, I may be dreaming in technicolor again but it's more fun than the alternative.<ggg>
