A wild week!! The table has been updated with the latest
data and is shown below. Both the group of 33 and the
SOX-X wound up with a 1 percent loss while the NASDAQ is up
5 percent. Some big winners and losers in the group.

Gottfried - here is that data calculated to show relative low/high range in the SOXX. I've divided the low by the high for each month and sorted by the result. A '70' means the SOXX low was 70% of the SOXX high for the given month. As was suggested in my previous post, the volatility during Sept. of this year was closely matched by that in Oct. '97 (and a couple of other recent periods). Note: if we assume that the high/low for the SOXX has already been hit for October, 2000, then the % L/H is 68.88, the second lowest in the past 5 years. BTW, in case there was any doubt, there was a very high correlation (r = .88) between bookings and the average ([high + low]/2) SOXX close for each month.
