But in the end Bambs, due to his trading style, will always flip flop around dependent upon sentiment whereas most of us will sit and watch and wait. The final point - I'm not sure why bambs uses economic data as it has little use in his day-trading... he quotes the data often but it actually has more importance to the long term traders than it does the day-traders.

I flip flop because I have to, to make money. The trend and I are very good friends. The reason I look at data that is a concern for long term traders is because I always look for swing trades and long term trades that I feel are very safe. I felt very comfortable with a overnight short on IBM. I would love to have the confidence and the belief to buy stocks like csco and make money when the market rallies like today. I just choose to scalp and play safe. For many scalping stocks is viewed as risky. The thing is if you can do it is very profitable.

Gary,

I find it interesting that this thread has attracted so many people with a short term trading mentality.

150 years ago we had the beginnings of the industrial revolution which has really transformed the world and increased the living standards for millions. Now we have the technology revolution which encompasses many areas including electronics, bio, ect. The rate of change is exploding beyond the abilities of many people to understand creating many opportunities for those who want to and do understand.

To me the beginning of this new revolution started in 1947 when the transistor was invented. Then the IC in the late 50's was envisioned. It's funny how the people who invented these devices could not foresee the incredible change that they had hatched. Brings to mind James Burkes TV series "Connections".

So we have had incredible change the last 50 years in technology but the rate of change will continue to explode from here.

So many great opportunities going forward. A great time to live.

Eric
