I certainly agree with you about these nonsensical whispers. One "whispers" site has viewers giving their own whisper numbers, and then showing this as the "Readers whisper number"! (or close to that label). Kind of like a "Who won the debate poll." It is now to the point where you dread seeing any whisper above the consensus number.

In the same category is this new SEC regulation that has led to more earnings warnings supposedly in the interest of protecting average investors. The immediate crashing of a stock that warns unexpectedly totally blindsides the average investor. That is much worse than an actual earnings report that is disappointing, since at least then you have a choice to be in or out on the date of the earnings release,
