What you need to focus on is not the atrocities men commit- which are legion- but the fact that what a child believes is meaningless. Children in India believe the stars got there via the Hindu version of creation. Little Native American children believe THEIR creation myths. Little Greg just happened to believe the Christian creation myths because he was probably born in a place that was primarily Christian. Children believe in any sort of magic they can, to make sense of a world that is very complex. Machines, for example, are magical to children because they do not understand physics and engineering. Greg did hit on something (accidentally) with his poke at "book learning". It is MUCH easier to be a mystic if you are ignorant. And of course children are ignorant- that is why we educate them.
