Yeah, I am sure that my Stanford PhD in EE, plus
my professional experience as a MIT and then UC
faculty member certainly prevent me from understanding
GG's pseudo-technological babble.

Mark- I think you may have addressed your comment to the wrong person. Bernard happens to be above the 'high-level technological reading' of GG.

IMVHO, GG excels when it comes to generally explaining communications technology to non-professionals. My only problem is his zealous manner in which he promotes individual companies and trashes other competing technologies and/or companies. And I have to say, sometimes almost religiously leading the average investor down the wrong path. But I suppose one can say that is not GG's problem. It's a problem of those who choose to follow without doing the DD themselves.

Hope I didn't offend anyone with my comments. -MikeM(From Florida)

And one more thing, and I will let the Gilderites
frolic in the light provided by the great guru.
George Gilder makes no secret of his conservative
views. As someone who is also a conservative, I
would like to point out that the general goal of
conservatism is to foster individuals who are self-reliant,
which in investing matters means that they do their own
research, burn the midnight oil in understanding
technologies, and then armed with this hard work
proceed to invest. In contrast, GG's web site
advertises that his subscribers should leave the
arduous task of understanding technology to him.
Isn't it a problem for someone who claims to
be a conservative to foster dependency? Dependency
on GG's newsletter is no better than dependency
on the government. Some of Gilder's subscribers
use his newsletter as a small component of their
overall DD, and I have no problem with that, but
for many, their investment strategy consists
primarily in downloading the letter, finding the pick
of the month, and then clicking a buy order
followed soon by a sell order when the frenzy has
reached its peak.
