Here's a little good news:

The Compaq Presario line features AMD Athlon and Intel Pentium® III processors with speeds ranging from 850 MHz to 1 GHz, memory configurations up to 348 MB, a choice of Microsoft Home or Small Business applications, and a standard NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS.

Making the GeForce2 GTS standard on the Presario 7000 series will help sell high end Athlon systems.

Pravin.

Itanic benchmarks posted! 667 mhz processor almost matches Duron 700! jc-news.com

Found this after checking out JC's on your note. "Primordia", a physics benchmark, it sounds FP intensive. Lots of good looking Athlon numbers here, the top cumine listed is a 733 i840 system, which almost matches an athlon 750, and is faster that a 933 cumine on an 815 board. Looks bandwidth dependent, which doesn't seem to help the Itanic. Search for "Itanium" to see the awesome number buried in the pack.

Cheers, Dan.
