I don't know. Probably driven by cost, again. I think if it doesn't cost too much more to go the demarc (green box), then that's how they'll do it. But if it's just in the street, then you have the problem of how to get it up to the house. DSL, wireless? Who knows?

I have seen stuff that suggest that the first roll out will be FTTC and then DSL from the CEV to the home. This way they don't have to go through a new tariffing. I suspect that the whole idea of tariffs is going to become archaic anyway and it will go to the Cable TV type offering where you get a basic service and then add your premium channels (applications)

I don't really like the PON stuff, at least not the things I've seen from TeraWave and Quantum Bridge. They are close, but I am not sure they are on the right track. DWDM,

And passive will have better reliability, especially when we are talking about installation away from the C.O.
