whether MSFT's vc investments (or a good portion of them) are focused on "mission critical" technologies rather than the returns they generate and should be included may be a matter of debate. Sounds like it is a matter of debate. Don't disagree that it shouldn't but it looks like to me that some of softie's investment are in what to them appear to be "mission critical technologies". Softie too knows that it has to change in order to survive. There is no doubt that most of their moves haven't looked too swift but they don't have to be 100% right to be successful. Can they use their position in their network to convert to an internet powerhouse? It'll be interesting to watch. Kat
