At my age (which is 63), the prescription drug benefit means more to me than the promise of a tax cut. Bush's plan for tampering with Social Security scares the hell out of me. I am sure there are many voters in my age group who think the same way. As a self employed person, I have paid
into Social Security at twice the rate of other persons for 40 years. Now that I will be elgible for benefits, I worry about where the money will come from if Bush taps the fund so younger people can invest in the stock market. I heard the new Gore ad on the radio today about which promise Bush will keep - the promise to pay the benefits of current recipients or the promise to allow younger persons to invest in the stock market. It sure sounds like he has spent the same money twice.
