With SS there is an option. What is to stop some knucklehead from blowing the family jewels now? I get your point. When someone does not get an education and cannot earn enough to support his/her family we support them with food stamps/welfare...now training. I get your point, but there will always be safeguards. As a matter of fact, I have volunteered in numerous agencies, and they seem to be fighting amongst themselves to see how many they can help. Case in point, Thanksgiving and Christmas are big times for feeding the "homeless" (hell, I am homeless)and the charities were trying to generate as much TV coverage for themselves so they all served dinners on the same day, often at the same times, across the street from each other. FYI, I have no 401K.
