e-bill, what will save social security in the long run is that people will continue to work after 65 and continue paying into the system. The dire predictions you hear are based on the assumption that people will stop working at 65. It won't work that way. Most people will still be very healthy and productive at 65. I am one of those who will draw his social security at 65 and continue working and paying into the system. By the way, those young people who invest in the stock market will not have the disability insurance and life insurance which is currently available under social security. Those benefits are part of the rate of return.
