The Dems were the majority party at that time and HHH called them home as Nixon sat on his lead. HHH still only got about 43%.

The Dems are no longer a majority party by any means. The GOP and Dems are at parity with Indies holding the balance. Clinton, a better candidate could never achieve a majority, so how could his halfling?

According to the focus groups after the debate, AlGore the Junior turned off the Independents big time.
