I too did not want to step in front of the MSFT earnings even though the put/call and VIX were signaling the bottom was at hand.>>>>

exactly, that was a crap shoot, it was easy for me to call a bottom in late august because the spx held that rising wedge trendline, this time the sucker was diping it's beak in the abyss, check out security traders sox chart, got a real nice morning star with put/calls at 1, which is the inverse of the even stars in july and sept with put/calls at .4 or rydex at blow-out bull #'s.
