Hi, Ray -

LOL, you really had to reach into the drawer for my old reference post.

Yeah, it was pretty moth-eaten, I admit ;-)

I think the search for commonalities is a little misleading as the OFDM Forum is divided into three working groups, and different members in the referenced list belong to different working groups:

FIXED WIRELESS - ofdm-forum.com
WIRELESS LAN (COMPRISED OF WIRELESS MULTIMEDIA, WIRELESS LAN, AND WIRELESS PAN) - ofdm-forum.com
WIRELESS ROAD ACCESS - ofdm-forum.com

To be honest, there have been a lot of questions about 4G NT, many of which have not been answered. There has also been a considerable amount of thrust-and-parry on the PM channel, with some writers with whom we both correspond.

They (4G NT) have very ambitious plans, the quality of their website notwithstanding. The scope of their intentions is enormous - a national US wireless footprint. I have been willing to grant considerable latitude to them, given the secretive nature of the wireless business, and the difficulty of financing operations such as this, when some of the backers wish to remain anonymous.

You, and others, may not be so generous.

At present, all I can say is that they are paying for product, their cheques don't bounce, and if they succeed, they will be far and away the most capable wireless service in the whole damned world.

The sense of my post was, that in spite of the doubts, the cynicism, the sneers of the Steve Smiths, and the constant negativity, the OFDM Forum continues to grow. Far from being defeated, it shows strength and diversity. The likelihood that it will share a formative influence on standards increases with that growth.

Best regards,

Jim
