I am new to this board but I have been writing covered calls for a long time. The covered calls saved me in this crazy mkt. But I do have a question about covered calls that get away from me...example:

FNM is a safe stock that moves very slowly...until the last month....then exploded. I did not buy back the calls. I just let them run..and as the stock shot up the calls followed. This happens from time to time with other stocks.
AVCT is another....stock moved rapidly..and I was asleep at the switch. Any thoughts on what to do as we near expiration dates when the covered call is deep in the money?

Thanks for your help...Jeff
