ya, tinker...why don't you write a report on IRF. You talk about them like they are the best thing since sliced bread.

IRF just reported like 249.7 million in revs. if around 27.5% was from their newer more propeitary products then we're talking around 86.5 million in revenues. How big can this get? In 5 years? 1 billion in sales? Can Intel or Sony switch from IRF to another company???

What type of margins does IRF get on these newer propeitary MOSFITS or whatever. You'd think this would be a pretty big market if every single gadget would need IRF's products. Cars, laptops, cell phones..

I'm not totally sure what IRF does, but i have a idea. Nevertheless, i now need to find out what kind of barriers to entry IRF has and if this market will be as big as i think.

Tinker

I would question the validity of the first part of this statement:

In addition, by 2003 all the DRAM MFG. will have invested billions in RDRAM manufacturing equipment and RDRAM will have become the status quo that the industry will fight against changing.

if you mean to infer that this equipment investment is only suitable for RDRAM. I suspect that the only thing that is rambus specific are the photomasks and the probe cards. The masks change regularly so that's not a barrier to entry. I would guess that the total RDRAM specific probe card investment wouldn't exceed $10-20 million.

Despite the above, the latter statement may become true.
