whipped us together as a toy, then tossed us in the closet

Worse than that Steve, we are Universe 1.0 with all joys and comforts of being a first version of software.

Hi Steve. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.
The fact is that God has shown up. The life of Jesus attests to that. Jesus demonstrated this by performing miracles such as healing the sick, calming the waves, turning water into wine and conquering death.

"The stunt that convinced Paul might convince me as well. Since God was willing to pull a trick like that to convince Paul, but isn't willing to make even the slightest overture in my direction, I can only conclude that either there is no God and Paul was having a bout of the DTs, or God has lost interest and wandered away."

Somehow I get the impression that would not quite cut it for you. As far as God wandering off and losing interest, I don't think he has at all. Have you ever done a study of Biblical prophecy? That is what initially peaked my interest in the Bible. Look at Jerusalem today. It was prophesied thousands of years ago that just before the return of Christ, Jerusalem would be the focus of the whole world and that in the end all the nations would be gathered together to come against the Jewish people. I believe that we could be on the verge of seeing that prophecy come to fruition. Unfortunately those who refuse to acknowledge and receive Him voluntarily now will not be afforded that opportunity when He comes again.
Have a good day.
Greg
