NightOwl, your arguments may be plausible, but not "hidden", namely, everyone knows that already. The point of TA is to try and fathom what is not known broadly in the market. It is not a "day to day" type of thing (unless you trade the "channel". Thus when a stock like RMBS takes out overhead supply in the $65 to $68 area on relatively good volume, you must ask yourself why in the face of this recent pronouncement from Barrett, the stock is acting so strongly. Maybe it just "manipulation" (by the MSDW recent reconfirmation) and maybe it is something fundamental (like an increasing recognition that maybe the patents do cover broader range of products). If it is the former, than we will rapidly know that the current move is a "head fake", if the latter, then we may discover, long after the fact, what are the fundamental reasons for the strength. Since I am not as smart as most fundamentalists here, I have no choice but to listen to the TA (which got me back in yesterday on the breakout). Can I be whipsawed? Sure, but that is not the first nor the last time, and being often enough on the right side of the stock moves is still quite profitable, even if "fundametally" wrong.
