Bilow, One problem in comparing cheapest RDRAM prices to cheapest SDRAM prices from pricewatch is that the cheapest RDRAM prices are all mainly the same name brand sticks from NEC and Samsung. Meaning they were tested and validated with the same process. So getting those same sticks from someone else that is more expensive makes no sense. On the SDRAM cheapest however, it's a different story. Who knows what validation and testing was done on "Generics". So when you see "Generic" who knows what you are getting. People have tried "generic" memory in the past only to end up regretting it. That is why Crucial has done so well and most people use Crucial when buy their memory. That way they have some guarantee that the memory will be functional. Also in SDRAM, you have to distinguish between CL2 and CL3 parts. I always compare with CL2 parts since that is what all benchmarks use. So comparing cheapest RDRAM RIMMs from the names brand NEC and Samsung that are validated and tested under strict conditions, Crucial is the one you should be comparing to, or at least some other name brand vendor with a good record of testing and validation of parts.

Re: RDRAM, SDRAM prices. Bilow, sylvester80, I just wanted to throw my offering into the ante. I have a little semiautomated program that grabs information from pricewatch.com every week. This program grabs the number of entries listed for each requested item and reports the average of the first page of entries. It's pretty straightforward in how it does this, so while I might be biased if I did this manually every week, the program doesn't have any problems of that nature. jc-news.com The only real problem with this automated method is that all DRDRAM speed grades are in the same categories (it, there is only one category for all 128MB DRDRAMs). -JC
