SAMSUNG SDS and Watch4me/COGNICASE Conclude an Exclusive Commercialization Agreement MONTREAL, CANADA--OCTOBER 24, 2000 - 08:32 EDT SAMSUNG SDS and Watch4me, Wireless/Internet Technologies Division of COGNICASE Inc. (Nasdaq: "COGI"), announced the conclusion of a strategic and exclusive commercialization agreement that will bring Watch4me technology to Japan and Korea. Under the terms of the agreement, SAMSUNG SDS will adapt and implement Korean and Japanese versions of Watch4me. Moreover, Watch4me/COGNICASE and SAMSUNG SDS will join forces to integrate the Watch4me technology to SAMSUNG's Mobile Personal Digital Assistant, the Mobile PDA. Currently, South Korea has 26 million cellular subscribers while Japan has 59 million. SAMSUNG SDS and Watch4me/COGNICASE are well positioned to acquire a significant share of those two markets. The agreement provides for data revenues to be shared between SAMSUNG SDS and Watch4me/COGNICASE. Mr. Y.A. Kim, Vice President, Business Community, for SAMSUNG SDS, stated that "the first users of Watch4me in this part of the world will be clients of SAMSUNG affiliated Financial Service Institutes. Clients of SAMSUNG SDS will be continuously updated on news and stock market activity that is of interest to them, and will be able to manage their stock portfolio in real time right from their cellular phones or their Mobile Personal Digital Assistants (Mobile PDA)" In addition, SAMSUNG SDS's will market its own adapted version, targeting cellular telecommunications operators and various interest groups such as those operating in the financial, sports, and academic sectors. Watch4me's President, Mr. Paul Forostowsky, indicated that he was very satisfied with the agreement: "The exclusivity deal concluded with SAMSUNG SDS allows for Watch4me to break into a new territory. The agreement reflects the widespread interest arising out of the great opportunities it offers and the unique features of the Watch4me technology." On this subject, Mr. Forostowsky specified that "the product enables users of WAP-GPRS and UMTS-3G cellular technology to rely on an intelligent agent, accessible through their Personal Portal, which will constantly be looking after their interests and triggering actions related to purchases, sales, messages, bank transactions, orders, and brokerage activities."
