<< what % of silver consumption is related to photography ?>>

Some 33%.. Silver consumption in photography has been growing from 130 millions ounces in 1980 to an estimated 265 millions ounces in 2000 and is not showing any sign of changing its trend. The growth rate is roughly 5%. The growth rate will certainly slow down because of digital photography, but it will take years before we significant drop in consumption, if ever.

At the moment 250 millions ounces of this 265 is consumed in US, Japan and Europe. Only 15-20 millions ounces is consumed in Asian photography. This is where we might see a large increase in demand. I doubt the Chinese and Indians will get into the digital technology... it is still far too expensive.

I don't know about Buffet selling his silver. Have read a few rumors... but nothing coming form really informed sources.
