ASML already sell steppers to the optical arrayed wave guide market.(Bookham for example) What's so special about UTEK for optical applications?

Kirk,

I believe that UTEK has the least promising prospects of any semi-equip. They have been very resourceful with "have 1x stepper, will travel," but if a better bumping technology is introduced, they are out of business. There are probably many small niche markets for their 1x stepper and Art is too clever not to mention that some exist in OPTICAL NETWORKING. These markets have not supported much growth or much profitability, recently. They appear to have lost their dominant position in disk drives and that is to be expected. Technology companies can't compete very long with yesterday's products.
