George has Everything to be proud of. If the crime rate has gone down 5%, then it's better than going up 5%, true?

>>>I agree, do the crime and do the time. But what happens when people don't learn their lesson, or new offenders
commit crimes? Overlook it? I don't think we can do that. They need to be locked up. Ethnic background is always a factor when someone is trying to get out of going to jail, but I'm glad we have law enforcement that sticks to the law and puts the race issue behind.<<<

<<<So Bush believes in affirmative access when it comes to sending folks to jail, huh? And the evidence shows that Texas has not put "the race issue behind.">>>

What evidence? Are you saying you don't have race and hatred issues with law enforcement in your state? And when it does happen, do you think it goes unpunished? Let's put it this way, when people of color are about to go to jail, how many times do you hear the race issue come up? "It's only because I'm a minority that I'm getting punished for killing that man," or, "Them white folks are out to get me just because I'm a minority that robbed a white lady and beat her to death!"

It's so easy to turn the tables and make someones comments go your way for your own benefit. That's what Clinton has been doing for years now, and Al Gore would do the same.

PT, This is what I mean by "spin" You took a phrase dealing with one issue and tagged it to another. Personally I see that as another pickle in the orange basket. Can you understand why? Texas chooses to deal harshly with crime and you try to spin it into the issue of job quotas.

I have a hearing impaired, somewhat mentally challenged brother in law who lives with us. Every time he gets into some kind of hassle over some improper action he committed and is called to task, a typical response is to say something like "What about your daughter's boyfriend, he doesn't work or help at the house?" It has nothing to do with what he did. He is 46, my daughter boyfriend is 17. I see some of your responses analogous to the way my brother in law responds. There is a difference between mitigating and confounding.
