This is a very human interpretation of God. The "should God be replaced" refers to HUMAN creations of God which none of the spiritual people here think is an accurate depiction of the Supreme Being. But even if you think this interpretation is correct, I doubt that God can be replaced by puny Earthlings such as ourselves. So to that end, we are here to discuss Truth.

Solon will be glad to tell you what he means - in detail. You get him started and he'll get a little long winded. Sorry, Solon. I'm sure he'll be back soon.

I read between the lines in his post, and most people I've met don't really like this alter ego of their Gods. Hindus, Moslems and Christians have a lot of this. Very few embrace this aspect of their Gods.

Funny, though. In their day to day lives they also wouldn't embrace someone who acted this way. You have to realize that many religions have some pretty ugly stories in them and maybe the reporters got it wrong. Others think that this is literally true. The war in the Middle East has these extreme beliefs based on dogma at its roods.

The hypothetical was to address what some people consider "not a very nice God". There are other depictions of the Supreme Being that don't have this bloody baggage. Most of us here are to explore those.

To say one could replace the creator assumes 1.that there is a creator and 2.that you could figure out who or what he she or it is. If it was easy to figure out then everyone on earth would always have believed the same thing. The creator question is not an easy one- hence the myriad of solutions. And one man's trash is another man's treasure in this area.

Hey telli
Here's lookin at ya. Welcome. I agree with you about the trashing. There are some on this thread that are willing to enter into a rational discussion, and there are those that are not. As you noticed the threads charter is extremely inflammatory towards, particularly the God of the Bible. There is some new blood of late and it seems to have calmed down a little. I have decided to no longer respond to the author of this thread because of his intentionally blasphemous statements. If he apologizes and agrees to refrain from further such provocation I may reconsider, but I'm not holding my breath. Most people seem drawn to this thread by it's controversial subject. I personally thought it needed a little balance. I like to have fun. I think I have a decent sense of humor. And I am persuaded that God is not evil, He is good. Jesus Christ is God incarnate, the second person of the trinity. He died on the cross for my sins and rose (physically) again, three days later for my justification. I further expect that one day (could be soon) he will come again. As you might expect that leaves me at some disadvantage around these parts. What do you believe?
Have a good day, and again, welcome.
Greg

It seems to me as if the above quote is "Trashing God." There are biased opinions in that quote and it appears to be questionable? How can one replace their own creator or change His position as the Almighty?

It is all in the bible. That is the whole point. If you think the quote you cited paints a negative picture of God, then it is to the bible, and its author, that you ought to be addressing your concerns.

Of course, no mortal may replace an Ultimate Being--but we can choose to put a sensible face on God, and stop portraying this Spirit as the most bestial creature in the Universe. How insane.
