(REUTERS) NBC Internet President, COO Sanctis to resign-source

NEW YORK, Oct 20 (Reuters)- NBC Internet Inc. <NBCI.O>
President and Chief Operating Officer Edmond Sanctis plans to
resign, a source familiar with the situation said Friday.
The recent restructuring of the Internet media company and
resulting overlap was one of the reasons for Sanctis' plans to
depart, the source said.
NBC Internet revamped its organization this summer,
refocusing its efforts and combining its different properties,
including Xoom.com and Snap.com, under the NBC Internet brand
in hopes of moving toward a profit quicker. General Electric
Co.'s <GE.N> NBC holds a 39.3 percent stake in the Internet
company.
Earlier this week, the San Francisco-based company said it
would merge its AllBusiness.com small business services unit
with Bigvine Inc. to form a new company in which it would hold
a 49 percent stake. It cited a renewed focus on the U.S.
mass-market Internet audience behind the decision.
The company, whose shares have plummeted more than 90
percent from the end of January, has lost several high-level
executives in recent months. Chief Executive Chris Kitze
resigned in March and was replaced by William Lansing. John
Harbottle resigned in May as chief financial officer and was
replaced by Anthony Altig.
Its shares were last to up 3/8 at $5-3/16, off its 52-week
low of 4-5/16 in afternoon trade.

Thanks for that Merry one..... I think they made a mistake near the end of the story when they say: in fact with the Olympics behind us, there is not much at all on the horizon for NBCI shares.....

I thought NBC chose not to feature the Olympics on NBCi, and in fact (out of sheer stupidity in my opinion) placed most of the Olympic news and features over on another NBC website. That is what I recall anyway. Yogi
