I'm glad you did mention it.....the tone seems a bit mellower for it.

Passion can be a bit overpowering for sure. It can cloud judgement and can invoke "selective memory" :-)

........and there can at times be a fine line between passion and lunacy.

Fanaticism - I'm certainly not a pro-Bush fanatic. Am a conservative (or libertarian) fanatic? Probably not. IT might be accurate to call me an extremist (one who hold very extreme views), but I don't think I have the burning emotion that you would expect in a fanatic, and I have not done anything violent in support of any of my political views. It would be very rare that I would even go as far as using vulgar language or insults. I guess you could say my views are extreme while my demeanor and actions are not.

This thread is supposed to be "the moderate's perspective", but if you limit it to just "moderate" ideas you will not get a lot of posting. Perhaps we can moderate our words and emotions somewhat while still having a debate which includes extreme and/or unusual views.
