KLP, what you don't realize is that when we deal with the issue of substance abuse problems--the use of which is essentially a moral choice made by an individual--and countermand such problems with criminal sanctions, we do more harm than good. Under the current system victims are still victims, except there's more of 'em. And the incessant greed, which comes from drug money, corrupts both lawbreakers and law enforcement alike.

Putting drug users in jail instead of infusing extensive treatment options is a waste of public money and a taking of freedom from the choices of an individual. I'd much prefer prison resources be used to house those who commit the most violent offenses against society.

Call it a quality prison where the quality of justice is equal to the quality of the crime committed. I don't see this in Texas. Do you?
