I fear the consequences of not believing in the right thing
This is more or less the Pascal's wager reason for belief. Supposedly the risk of beliving in a false God is less than the risk of not believing in a vengfull God.

This is precisely why I undertook the long study of information, chaos, and time which allows me to sleep at night untroubled by threats from vengfull Gods.

But there are consequences in other religions for not believing in the right thing. To hedge your bets you should believe in all the religions that punish you for not believing in the right thing- I mean using your own rational- right?

All religious books tell there followers to have faith.

So as I understand you- you believe because you have faith, because you need faith, to believe. And you believe because you are afraid of not believing?
