The more I know about this HON stuff, the more PO'd I get. CNBC's David Faber mentioned the deal to Jack Welch Thursday before he mentioned it on the air (they actually admitted this on the air earlier without any notion that that might violate journalistic ethics, let alone SEC rules). Jack of course goes out and makes his own offer for HON. But Faber doesn't report the rumors that began circulating Friday morning that there were other offers for HON. Given that CNBC is owned by GE, the whole thing really stinks. At best, Faber was giving GE favorable treatment. Talk about insider trading and selective disclosure. My respect for CNBC plummeted more than a profitless doctom today.
