perhaps Verizon doesn't need 1x yet, because it doesn't have as many subs and is not knocking against capacity; sprint stores are crammed with people; verizon in dallas is empty whenever i go in.

the article does not say the phones are 2g handsets; you guys are making an unwarranted assumption. i believe they are 1x phones using qcom chipsets; NOK doesn't have to sign license until it starts to sell them. the negotiations could be read as indication that 3G license and chip deal are almost ready to be inked soon after Vz commits to buy them and the first ones are to be shipped for sale to consumers.
