MCTR sales staff distracted
--9:42 am - By Michael Baron
Mercator Software (MCTR: news, msgs) is plunging $6.69, or 54.5 percent, to
$5.56, after the Wilton, Conn., e-business software firm reported a third-quarter
pro forma loss of $4 million, or 14 cents a share, down from last year’s
equivalent profit of $2.2 million, or 8 cents a share, and well below the average
estimate of analysts polled by First Call for a profit of 9 cents a share. Revenue
rose to $32.2 million in the latest three months from $26.7 million in the same
period a year earlier. The company attributed the shortfall to weak revenue
bookings in September caused by sales force distraction related to a decline in
Mercator’s stock price.
Mercator also cited soft sales in Europe and net income
adjustments in August.

HO HO HO! Yet more victims of the "New Econom"?<g>
