re: Brian K. is having doubts, Jacob S. seems more humble etc:

You mean there is some chance that we are actually learning from experience? Could be.

So far this year, I've been:
1. humbled, after I sold my AMAT and INTC LEAPs in January, and then watched both of them quickly double.
2. elated, as I sat with 70% cash and 10% QQQ shorts while the Nas (and then INTC, and then AMAT) crashed.
3. humbled, as I got back into the market (long, that is) too soon, starting to buy WCOM at 40, buying more at 39, 38, etc, finally loading up on margin at 30 (sure that was the absolute bottom, the stock was so undervalued)
4. elated (last 3 days).

I have huge long-term cap gains, and big (not huge, fortunately) short-term losses, for the year.

And I will be humbled again, if AMAT takes off before I get my buy-in price of 30. Oh, well, as a consolation I doubled up on QCOM at 65 last week.
