Teckboy Re: strategies.

I have been diligently reading posts on this thread since discovering it nearly a year ago (thanks BB) when I started investing seriously and taking control of my own "retirement plan", but lurking most of the time. The collective wisdom of the regular posters has been a major influence on my investing strategies, and TRM as the basis for my thinking which so far has been to try to be a disciplined LTB&H. You do not seem to be as dedicated to LTH as others and that is why I am directing the following question to you....but, I welcome opinions from others as well.

I have willingly paid the price for stocks, some of which have tanked considerably this year, but not to worry because over the long haul all will work if the companies in question continue to have good "fundamentals". That is good LTB&H strategy as I understand it.

However, I am curious if part of that strategy should include "loading up" on those stocks when they tank (assuming one has cash at the time and the fundamentals have not changed), then when they regain former higher price ranges at or near ones original entry costs (one can hope, <gg>), selling the lots for which one paid "premium" prices (relatively speaking)breaking even on them with no tax consequences, but thereby considerably lowering one's cost per share.

Does this strategy not lower ones risk for future drops and improve ones earning posture over the long term? Or, does investment "wisdom" say hang on to ALL shares regardless?

Thanks for your thoughts,

rudy

OT; Just wanted to announce that on Thursday night, at 8:23PM, my wife delivered a beautiful baby girl. Taylor Dayne was 20 inches long, and weighed 7lbs and two ounces. She will be coming home tomorrow. What a wonderful addition, and hopefully another GGer will be on the way.

Best Regards,
