Suggestion: Get real time news attached to your quick execution brokerage (Executioner, A.B. Watley, MB Trading Cyber trader or whatever you use).. Put the words "earnings" into the the criteria search.. and click on "keyword".. put in 1 to 10 or how many days you are interested in following and the earnings will coming out instantly. Than press "print headlines" or "print story" and you have your report automatically (this is after they report).. Another hint is to intersect the word "analysts" with your "symbol" list about 1-2 weeks before the expected report day and you will know if your company has been upgraded or downgraded BEFORE it reports or after.

Another way is if you have Dow Jones (Bloomberg is the best but pricey).. click on Quick search Criteria and put in N/ERN, you will get the earnings that way.

A way to get just the upside earnings surprises.. put in "upside" as a keword.. for downside surprises put in "downside".. that's basically it. If you have a database like I do, click the check box near the word "INTERSECTION".. and the checkbox near the words "Symbols and Categories" and type the word "earnings" under "Categories" menu (or put in N/ERN) and under "SYMBOLS" put in all your symbols so when your companies start to report, the news will show them becaust the categories 'earnings' and your 'symbols' are intersected. (i.e. all your selected symbols will have earnings reports as they come out)... For regular news just have the symbols lists in the search criteria.. you don't need "intersection" higlighted.
