Hi Mike,

Thanks for that follow-up on NVEI. I recall a nasty PM exchange I had with the P&D artist who brought that to us. FWIW, the WSJ yesterday ran an article on the New Jersey teenager the the SEC nailed for P&D scams. I forget his name at the moment, but he had a lot of defenders on a thread here at SI after the bust. Free market capitalist types, real macho men. I get a sense that the moral compass among the young traders isn't exactly pointed north. The gist of the WSJ article is that crime does pay. While the kid had to disgorge about $270K, he was allowed to keep another $480K that wasn't part of the plea bargain. The lesson is that if you feel the need to be a criminal in the U.S., the best route is white collar. Or earth-tone khakis, as the case may be. Anywhere but on the street.

Speaking of earth-tone khakis, not only is Al Gore the poster boy of Rolling Stone this week, he's also the cover man at Red Herring:
redherring.com

Why am I bringing this up? Not because Gore invented the Internet (he simply sponsored the enabling legislation on the transition from Arpanet to NSFnet), but because he's got an associative mind that I can appreciate. Here's the best quote from the interview: "....the American democratic system was an early political version of Napster." Gotta wonder if Dubya can top that one..... <vbg>

Bon Chance, Ray

Hi Mike:

Thanks for the update on NVEI. I had the same experience
as Ray with the person he is referring to.

Best regards,
