Religious values conflicting with reality. I'm not making a general claim just a citing a single example, much like Columbine is being cited even though it is a single example. Considering that there is already a selection process in religious school, and they generally aren't free, I think you have a biased sample. The vast majority of public schools (which outnumber the students enrolled in religious schools) don't have Columbine episodes either.

Axe wielding priests who crash their cars into abortion clinics, then being fought off with shotguns at abortion clinics is not what I'd call good values.

What on earth is your point? If only they'd a been church going this wouldn't have happened? Gimme a break.

And try as I might, I just cannot imagine anything a school system might do to a girl that would traumatize her more than a peer putting a bullet into her.

I have HAD physical trauma plus witnessed my share of death. Your imagination is not very good or you don't understand that the physical trauma is frequently minor compared to psychological trauma.

When you have sexual feelings and can't manage to use birth control, get pregnant as a result, run away to avoid stigma (mostly in her head), miscarry, get into more trouble miles from your family as a harbored runaway by people who take more advantage of you, yet feel STILL guilty about the birth control (all by the age of 17), THEN maybe YOU will understand. Your need for specifics is grotesque considering this is a personal story. I hope your idle curiosity is satisfied.

I've got two daughters. I understand.
