Blake, Intel's real big mistake is

We all know that Intel gave (invested) $500M to Micron for the explicit purpose of helping them make RDRAM's. It now appears, however, that they only had a gentlemanly handshake promise from Micron to support and produce RDRAM. When Micron reneged, Intel had no recourse other than selling their Micron shares. Lucky for Intel, they made a handsome profit on their "investment". But they really DID NOT accomplish their strategic objective. The same Barret that made the recent remarks about Rambus, said on CNBC a few (several?) weeks ago that their investment in Micron is no longer "strategic" because Micron did not support RDRAM.

I personally doubt that Barret thinks Rambus should just let others use its IP freely.

JMHO.
