LMAO!

Brain Gum, the subject of your previous post, is a negligible product in terms of sales and may even be phased out at some point. If Brain Gum product completely died on the vine, it would have absolutely no effect on Gum Tech. Gum Tech makes the product under contract to the distributor, KR Research. Sales of that product could go to 0 today and it would have zero effect on the company. Your "DD" really is a joke, "Auric".

You are correct that the FDA charged Quigley with making unsubstantiated claims about the benefit of Kids-Eeze Bubble Gum and Cold-Eeze on children with colds. If you did even one iota of research, you would find that the FDA said that Quigley could continue making their claim that Cold-Eeze reduces the duration and severity of cold symptoms in adults because an independent clinical study backs up those claims. They didn't include children in the clinical study on Cold-Eeze, and conducted no clinical testing on their gum. I also agree with the FDA's decision to stop Quigley from making unsubstantiated claims regarding the benefits of Cold-Eeze on allergies and pneumonia since Quigley hasn't conducted any clinical tests to prove those claims. The claims for Zicam Cold Remedy and Zicam Allergy Relief are substantiated by independent double blind placebo controlled clinical studies, and the FDA hasn't said anything negative whatsoever about either product.

Your insinuation that Zicam could be toxic is one of the most ludicrous things that you've written yet. The amount of zinc in Zicam is well below the US RDA and absorption into the blood stream through the nose is very small. In fact, this is one reason that Zicam is better than Cold-Eeze. Since Zicam is applied to the site of infection, less zinc is needed than in Cold-Eeze because Cold-Eeze has a very inefficient distribution mechanism.

And you call this DD?

LMAO! Using Hank's words, it is pathetic.

How much zinc is in Zicam? The following calculations are courtesy of Dr. Howard Epstein.

Zn = 65 g/mole, has 2+ charge as ion. The chemical formula for Zinc Gluconate is Zn (C6 H11 07)2.

The molecular weight of Zn gluconate is 65 + 195 + 195 = 455 grams/mole

455 grams/mole x (1000mg/gram) x (1 mole/1000millimoles) = 455mg per millimole of ZnGluconate.

Of this, 65 mg will be ionic zinc.

(65mg/millimole) x (.033millimoles/millilter) x (0.125ml/nostril) x (2 nostrils/dose) = 0.536mg per dose.

5 doses per day will be 2.68 mg applied total per patient per day. The RDA for Zinc is 15 mg so even if you take an extra dose and assume 100% absorption, you are at 1/5 of the RDA. <end>

Your DD really is a joke, "Auric". Got any more laughs for me this weekend?
