Okay Tony-- Please elucidate the McEngle argument for me. Given that I can go to the Gateway page, click on the "Small and Mid-Size Business" link, click on the "Desktops" link, click on the "Gateway SelectSB" link, click on "Customize It," and get my 1.2 GHz Thunderbird with Win 2000 within a week, how is the 1.2 GHz Thunderbird a "novelty" item? Given that the "Customize It" click is not necessary if a person goes through the "Home and Home Office" path and that the same number of steps are necessary to get to the P3 and Celeron systems, the only difference I know of is the inability to get a 1.2 GHz Athlon at Fry's (or, at least, when I went last week). Hence, I assumed he was trying to do some stupid play on direct != retail.
