OT: When I visit areas of the country new to me, I always seem focused on seeing the countryside and what natural beauty I can find and tend to avoid the cities unless there's something special about them. I really have no conception of Charlotte except that NationsBank grew up there. Also, in college I never became close friends with anyone from that city, so I never had any special incentive to visit it. I have been all through the Appalachians, especially those in NC from Pisgah Forest all the way up to Blowing Rock. I've been along much of the Blue Ridge Parkway and up Mt. Mitchell several times. I loved visiting the Carl Sandburg House south of Asheville and I'm a huge Biltmore admirer. I was in love once with a girl from a small town northeast of Asheville called Burnsville, which encouraged me to see what of the mountains I have.
