SI. actually, i don't know for a fact that Astral Point has designed AMCC's ICs into its ON 5000 box. but given that AP was namedropped as being on the horizon and after having glanced at their brief OC-192 three-pager, i made an "educated" (used loosely) guess. astralpoint.com your question is a decent launching point for more due dilly. do know, however, that in many instances, AMCC gear is sold in module form through an OEM to the box maker (read: AMCC into JDSU modules to NT is one example). similarly, i'm fairly certain that AMCC's SiGe-based, OC-192 transmitter/receiver chips are providing the physical layer interface for JNPR's M40 and -160 routers (again, via an OEM and then onto JNPR). a couple other examples ... AMCC's Missouri chips (via Cimaron) are enabling framing in ONI Systems' (formerly Optical Networks) products, presumably the ONLINE7000 and -9000 transport solution. earlier in the year, Merrill did a back o' the envelope and speculated that AMCC components add up to $1,000 per wavelength in Sycamore's 512-wavelength system, the SN 16000 (i.e., possibly $500,000 in revenue for AMCC for each 512-wavelength system that Sycamore sells). let us know what you find, -chris.
