Carolyn,

Remember the electoral college determines the state votes by adding their congressional representatives - senate and house. Bush wins a lot of small vote states which have more electoral votes per person than large population states. Given this fact, it is more likely that Bush would lose the popular vote and win the electoral vote.

Many of this board's Gore supporters are hoping for a miracle by quoting old electoral college polls. But most of these are horribly outdated using very old state poll data. The debates were a clear slam dunk win for Bush and newer state polls will reflect this. POA has the most up to date state polls and has Bush very close to the magic 270, while Gore is getting very precarious in his "safe" states.
