DMC Stratex Networks Secures $20 Million Order From Major
Telecommunications OEM Supplier for Fixed Wireless Networks

Order Marks First Major Shipments of Long-Range DXR Products
in 6 and 11 GHz Frequencies; Also Includes High-Capacity
Altium, Mid-Capacity XP4

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- DMC Stratex
Networks (Nasdaq: STXN - news), one of the world's foremost
solutions providers for broadband wireless access, today
announced that it has secured a six-month $20 million order
from a major global telecommunications OEM supplier for fixed
wireless access networks worldwide. The order marks early
wireless network deployments for the OEM's broadband service
provider customers, enabling the providers to deliver high-
speed wireless access connections for businesses with
increasing demands for large volumes of data and voice
communications.

The order includes requirements for several broadband access
products, including the high-capacity (155 Mbps) Altium(TM)
product line, the mid-capacity (up to 45 Mbps) XP4 product
line, and the long-range (up to 60 miles) DXR(TM) solution.
The order makeup exemplifies the broad wireless product range
of DMC Stratex Networks, which is unmatched in the industry.
Shipments will begin this quarter.

Altium will be used primarily in the 7 GHz radio frequency
band to deliver backhaul services between cities in Mexico
for telephone and data communications. The XP4 products
ordered operate in the 28/29, 31 and 38 GHz bands and are for
a leading U.S. broadband fixed wireless access voice and data
provider, as well as a worldwide telecommunications giant to
backhaul its MMDS solutions. This order also marks the first
major shipments for the DXR in the 6 GHz and 11 GHz bands,
with capacities up to 45 Mbps.

``This strategic announcement furthers our long-standing
relationship with this world-renowned major
telecommunications OEM supplier, and we are pleased to
provide key solutions for its service provider customers'
wireless access networks worldwide,'' said Sam Smookler, DMC
Stratex Networks president and CEO. ``Altium is the most
spectrally efficient wireless product available, and it
continues to be the solution of choice for today's leading
OEMs and providers looking for a competitive advantage in
rolling out their advanced wireless networks. It is also
exciting to begin shipping the 6-GHz and 11-GHz DXR,
delivering new connectivity capacities of up to 45 Mbps over
longer ranges.''

Altium is designed to meet the demanding requirements of
high-speed wireless access networks, delivering data, voice
and video in wireless systems operating in frequencies from 7
GHz to 38 GHz. Altium uses the highest density modulation for
a broadband wireless access product (128 QAM) to deliver 155-
Mbps wireless fiber-like capacity in only 28 MHz of radio
frequency bandwidth, half that of similar wireless products.
This efficiency allows carriers to dedicate less of their
licensed spectrum for installed systems, making Altium the
most affordable solution to operate providing the industry's
highest capacity.

The XP4 is a quickly installed, low-cost wireless network
solution. It offers the flexibility of transmission
capacities from 2 Mbps to 45 Mbps, and most frequency bands
from 7 GHz to 38 GHz. Popular applications include fixed
wireless access, last-mile connections for local telephone
service, cellular back-haul interconnections, and private
networks.

DXR radios, like their high-capacity Altium counterparts, are
the most spectrally efficient offerings in their class. The
DXR is specifically designed to provide low- to medium-
capacity wireless connectivity for medium- to long-haul
trunking applications.

With headquarters in San Jose, Calif., DMC Stratex Networks,
Inc., is one of the world's foremost solutions providers for
broadband wireless access -- enabling the development of
complex communications networks worldwide. Since its founding
in 1984, the Company has achieved international recognition
for quality, innovation, and technical superiority in
delivering data, voice, and video communication systems,
including comprehensive service and support. DMC Stratex
Networks is strategically positioned to continue its
