Yeah, I've seen that number also. What I think you are seeing is Intel trying to communicate it's confidence in the future. Now they may have lined up the memory companies behind them for that 2 million figure, if so, then it is probably restricted to Samsung.

While I am dubious about the absolute need for 1GHz machines in the corporate environment, I also know that they like to buy for several years, my machine at work is a 266MHz PII. They don't mind spending a large chunk at a time, they just don't want to do that every 6 months. This is why I think they find current offerings unappealing, they see them being behind the current curve and that will mean they will only fall behind at an accelerating rate.
