Redman, What if Microsoft owned the Vertigo technology? Their marketing machine would have been in overdrive promoting it while still an idea in some programmers head. What gives with Citrix? I don't think they know yet how it fits in with their longer term strategy. As a development tool they cannot use the per user licensing scheme they have for Metaframe which would maximize revenue generation. (Imagine if Citrix derived licensing revenure from all the cell phone/PDA users who would potentially be using Vertigo technology.) I would like to see it more tightly coupled with their existing product line. My guess is they are still trying to figure it out.

What exactly is Vertigo?

Citrix has a habit of describing a product in such a way so that your eyes glaze over.

What does the following section actually mean?
"Project Vertigo will enable the development and deployment of rich, full featured web-based applications. Web-based applications developed using Project Vertigo deliver the richness and interactivity that users demand from the most powerful desktop applications, without compromising on user interface design and capabilities. Plus, all data and information are delivered in realtime with Project Vertigo. Your customers are free from the hassles of synchronizing, refreshing and reconnecting. And Project Vertigo gives you the power to instantly personalize the application set for each user from your centralized data center." HAVE YOUR EYES GLAZED OVER? DO YOU THINK STOCKHOLDERS OR ANALYSTS UNDERSTAND THIS?

I want a description of how a user will use it to do what task and why is it better than using a regular old browser.

When Ed Iaccabucci used to go on TV to talk about ICA and used terms like "thin client" nobody had a clue what he was talking about. I finally understood ICA when I read an article that said something like "You can run Word on the server at work on a brain-dead 286 computer like you had a Pentium. All ICA did was refresh the screen and so you could be productive with a cheap computer and a slow network connection. A bonus: all the software upgrades could be done centrally and all the users were automatically upgraded"

Can somebody supply us non-techies a "Citrix for Dummies" by defining:
Nfuse
Vertigo
Portal technology
Web-top
Digital Independence

There are probably other terms that need to be described, but this is a start.
